Offensive Player of the Week Nominee:

For the season the left-handed swinging Ethier is now hitting at a team-leading .486 (18x37) clip with five doubles, two triples and 11 RBI. He is currently riding a five-game hitting streak in which he is 12-for-20 (.600). For the season Ethier has collected five multi-hit games, four of which have been three-hit affairs.

Pitcher of the Week Nominee:
Carlos Arguello, Jr., LHP, Albuquerque, N.M.
While the Sun Devil pitching staff did not fare well in Tallahassee, combining for a 7.50 ERA and 16 walks in 24.0 innings, junior LHP Carlos Arguello was phenomenal in his Sun Devil debut. The junior from Cochise College struck out three and allowed only one hit in three innings during Saturday's 5-3 loss to Florida State.

Cesar Castillo made his first career start behind the plate Sunday, going 1-for-2 with a run-scoring single and a sacrifice bunt... sophomore Nick Walsh tabbed a two-run, pinch-hit double in Saturday's 5-3 loss... he also had two big game winning hits of the same variety in 2001... the ASU starting pitchers entered the weekend with an ERA hovering around 2.00, but with no starter advancing past the fourth inning, now own a combined 3.52 ERA... the entire pitching staff was roughed up for a 7.50 ERA over the weekend... sophomore Rod Allen hit his second home run of the year Sunday and now has eight in his career, most among active Sun Devils... sophomore Steve Garrabrants also hit his second home run of the year in Saturday's loss... despite the series sweep by FSU, ASU has still outscored its opponent 67-40 this year and most convincingly 10-1 in the first inning... ASU has scored in the first inning in seven of its first 10 games... senior center fielder Jon Sheaffer is second on the team in batting at .381 (8x21) and is coming off his third career multi-hit game Sunday vs. FSU... the Sun Devils have used four different lineups in their 10 games this year and five different starting pitchers... Cal State Fullerton comes into this weekend's games with ASU at Hohokam Park with a 6-3 record after a series sweep of UNLV... the Titans, who advanced to the College World Series last year, have won six of their last seven games... ASU was 1-2 against Cal State Fullerton in 2001.
