Cho Tied for 23rd at San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - On a day in which no golfers shot par, Kathy Cho's 7-over 80 was good enough to tie for 23rd after Sunday's first round of the Lady Aztec Invitational, played at the 6,040-yard, par-73 Lake San Marcos Country Club.
Cho, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, was the only Oregon golfer near 80. Freshman Jess Carlyon shot an 87, sophomore Lacy Erickson had an 89 and junior Annie Davis, making her UO golf debut after spending the last two-and-a-half years on the track team, had a 90.
Oregon was 17th of 20 teams after carding a 346 composite. Colorado State led the competition after one round with a 308, followed by Kent State at 319 and Denver and UC Irvine at 321.
UC Irvine's Stella Lee took the first round lead with a 1-over 74, while Colorado State had three golfers in the top five with Mayumi Motoyama shooting a 75, Stephanie Linnell a 76 and Trisha Quick a 77.
The two-round tournament will conclude Tuesday morning.
