Men's Golf Ties For Ninth At Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate

The No. 7 USC men's golf team shot 885 to finish tied for ninth at the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate tournament held at Waikoloa Kings' Course in Waikoloa, Haw., on Wed.-Fri. (Feb. 13-15).

USC finished 25 strokes back of tourney champ Georgia Tech (860). Oklahoma was second (868), followed by Arkansas, Fresno State and Nevada in a three-way tie for third (875).

Senior Kevin Stadler led the Trojans, shooting 219 to tie for 20th. Troy Matteson of Georgia Tech won the individual title with a score of 210. Nick Watney of Fresno State was second (211), with Jason Allred of Pepperdine in third (213).

Also for USC, junior David Oh tied for 26th (220), sophomore Roderick Staunton tied for 44th (223), freshman Ben Hayes tied for 68th (227) and junior Chris Botsford tied for 73rd (228).

The Trojans are next in action on Mar. 4-5, when they host the Cleveland Golf Classic in Westlake Village, Calif.
