Women's Golf Heads To Arizona For Wildcat Invitational

TEEING OFF: The women's golf team opens its spring season at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona, Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-26. Teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday and 18 Tuesday. Play will begin both days with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
THE COURSE: The Par 72, 6,119-yard Raven at Sabino Springs is the venue. The Raven is a hilly, target-golf style course set in the desert mountains. Due to the landscape, the NCAA will require players to use carts for the tournament.
THE FIELD: The top five and seven of the top 10 teams in the country, according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, are scheduled to compete in the Wildcat Invitational. Of the 18-team field, 10 teams that finished in the top 11 at last year's NCAA Championships will compete, and 13 teams are ranked in the top 25. Here's a look at the competitors, with rankings in parentheses: host Arizona (11), Arizona State (10), Auburn (1), Duke (3), New Mexico (23), New Mexico State, Oklahoma State (9), Oregon State, Pepperdine (18), San Jose State, SMU, USC (12), Stanford, Tennessee (4), Texas (5), Tulsa (2), UCLA (21), Washington (20).
