CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brandon Payton scored 21 points as Oregon Statedefeated Washington State 91-55 Saturday night.
Thomas Kelati scored 17 points and Marcus Moore added 14 to lead the Cougars(5-20, 1-16 Pac-10), who have lost 18 of their last 19 games.
Washington State got to within 11 points in the second half, but the Beaversscored the next 17 points to open a 66-38 lead with 10:34 to play.
Payton, a one-year transfer from UC Santa Barbara, matched his season-highrecord by making 8 of 10 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 from behind the3-point line. The Beavers made their first 20 free throws before David Lucasmissed at the line with 2:56 left.
After missing their first shot, the Beavers made eight straight field goalsand their first five free throws to take a 23-11 lead six minutes into thegame.
Kelati's third 3-pointer brought Washington State to within 30-22, but theCougars would get no closer as the Beavers scored the next 10 points.
