SEATTLE, Wa. - The 18th-ranked Washington men's tennis team (11-0, 0-0) defeated unranked Idaho, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in the Nordstrom Tennis Center to tie the best start in school history. The 1986 men's team also began the year 11-0, before suffering a 7-2 loss to San Diego.

The doubles lineup was shaken up a bit as juniors Matt Hanlin (Birmingham, England) and Dillon Ruby (Westlake Village, Calif.) occupied the No. 1 spot. The duo, who are currently tied for 57th in the ITA's doubles rankings, notched their tenth win on the year by defeating Eddie Brisbois and Brock Berry, 8-5.
Ari Strasberg (Ramat-Hasaron, Israel) and Peter Scharler (Salzburg, Austria) played No. 2 doubles and beat Vandal pair, Hector Mucharraz and Brad Lum-Tucker, 8-4. To clinch the doubles point, Scott Felsenthal (Memphis, Tenn.) and Nick Weiss (Santa Monica, Calif.) took care of Fredrick von Sydow and Stephen De Silva, 8-5.
The Huskies took five of the six singles matches in straight sets as No. 52 Hanlin clinched the match for UW by defeating Brisbois, 6-2, 6-0. Christoph Palmanshofer (St. Georgen, Austria) played in the second position and beat De Silva, 6-3, 6-2. Palmanshofer is now 6-1 since joining the team in January.
