Women's Basketball Earns No. 2 Seed in Pac-10 Tournament

Seattle - The Washington women's basketball team has earned a No. 2 seed in the inaugural State Farm Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament that runs March 1-4 at in Eugene, Ore.

Washington and Arizona State finished the conference season tied for second place with records of 12-6, but the Huskies win the tiebreaker and the No. 2 seed based on a combined record of 3-1 versus Southern California and Oregon State while the Sun Devils were 2-2 against the same teams.

As the No. 2 seed, Washington has a first-round bye and will play its first game at 12 noon, Sat., March 2.

Action begins March 1 with No. 7 Oregon playing No. 10 Washington State at 6:30 p.m. followed by No. 8 UCLA versus No. 9 California at 8:45 p.m. Washington meets the winner of the Oregon-WSU game.

The semi-final and championship games of the Pac-10 Tournament March 3 and 4 will be televised live by Fox Sports Net. All Washington games can be heard live on the radio at KKNW 1150 a.m. and on the internet at www.gohuskies.com.

Washington finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-10, to go with its 12-6 Pac-10 mark. The Huskies swept their season series against Washington State, winning 98-64 in Seattle and 75-68 in Pullman. They split the series with Oregon, falling, 69-56 in Eugene and winning, 88-80, in Seattle.
