Carrie Walsh Named To The Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer Third Team

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford senior Carrie Walsh (Los Gatos, CA) was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer Third Team as selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA). Walsh enjoyed a banner season, playing all but 13 minutes in goals for the Cardinal.
Walsh holds the single-season record for minutes played with 1978. In 2001, she also recorded five shutouts, including a shutout against Denver in the first round of the College Cup.
Walsh holds a 3.83 GPA in Japanese and Spanish. She was also named to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII First Team and garnered First Team All-Academic Pac-10 honors.
This is the first season for a Verizon Academic All-America soccer team. In the past, soccer was one of the sports in the Verizon Academic All-America at-large category.
