Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON senior guard Frederick Jones has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 19 - 24, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Jones, from Portland, Ore., averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals as the Ducks swept the Washington schools to secure their first perfect record in McArthur Court since the 1937-38 season.
In the win over Washington State, Jones scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while adding five rebounds and four assists. Later that week, he tallied 33 points on 12-of-20 (.600) shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 (.714) from three-point range in a victory over Washington. In that game, he also added five steals, helping Oregon move into sole possession of first place in the Conference at 12-4.
For the week, Jones shot 19-of-34 (.559) from the field, 7-of-12 (.583) from three-point range and 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line.
It is the first weekly award for Jones, the 21st all-time honor for the Ducks.
