This Week -- The No. 4-ranked USC men's tennis team (9-2) plays only one match this week when it hosts UC Irvine on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium. The Trojans are coming off a three-win week, defeating No. 60 BYU (5-2) at home, then grabbing two wins on the road at No. 43 Arizona (4-3) and No. 42 Arizona State (5-2).

ITA Ranking Updates -- The first updated individual rankings of the dual match season were released on Feb. 20. The Trojans' Nick Rainey and Ryan Moore, who were not previously ranked because they did not compete in the fall, entered the polls at No. 61 and 73 in singles, respectively, and ranked No. 28 in doubles. Freshman Prakash Amritraj also joined the top-100 at No. 93. The following are also ranked: (singles) Andrew Park - No. 60 and (doubles) Park/Amritraj - No. 42.

USC vs. UC Irvine -- The Trojans are 35-3 all-time against the UCI Anteaters and defeated them last season, 6-1. USC has not lost a match to the Anteaters since the 1989 season.

Last Week's Results -- The Trojans defeated No. 60 Brigham Young, 5-2, to start the week on Feb. 19. USC fought to earn the doubles point as Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey defeated 10th-ranked Gert Vilms and Carlos Lozano, 8-7, at the No. 1 position. With the lead, USC needed just three singles victories to clinch the match and did so with two set wins at courts 1, 3, 4 and 6.

On Friday, Feb. 22, USC defeated No. 43 Arizona, 4-3, on the road. The Trojans edged the Wildcats by starting the match with a 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches once again. In singles the Trojans endured losses at No. 1, 2 and 5, but clinched the victory when Ruben Torres defeated Arizona's Arnaud Agniel in three sets at court six (5-7, 6-2, 6-1).

The following day USC defeated No. 42 Arizona State, 5-2.The Sun Devils opened the dual by winning all three of the doubles matches for the first point. But USC quickly recovered to win the match in singles action. The Trojans posted wins at courts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 for the 5-2 victory, allowing ASU only one singles victory at No. 3.

Head Coach Dick Leach -- Dick Leach enters his 23rd season at the helm of the USC men's tennis program. In 22 years with the Trojans, he has amassed a 516-129 (.800) overall record and won three national championships (1991, 1993, 1994). His teams have garnered seven Pac-10 championships, for which Leach has been named conference coach of the year four times (1987, 1991, 1992, 1994). Last season, he guided USC to a 15-9 (.625) overall mark, fourth place finish in the Pac-10 (3-4), and his second-consecutive Round of 16 appearance at the NCAAs.
