Women's Golf in 13th Place After First Round of Arizona Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team shot an 18-over par 306 Monday and is in 13th place after the first round of the Arizona Invitational. The 54-hole event is being held Mon.-Tues., Feb. 25-26 at the par 72, 6,134-yard The Raven at Sabino Springs.
Led by first-year head coach Mickey Yokoi, the 10th-ranked Sun Devils are 12 strokes off the pace of Arizona, which carded a six-over 294 to lead after the first round. Texas (295), UCLA (296), Duke (296) and Auburn (297) round out the top five after the first day of play.
For the Sun Devils, freshman Josefin Gustafsson, who is playing in the tournament as an individual, had the best day of any ASU player, shooting a two-over 74 to tie for 14th after the first round. Junior Melanie Hunt is tied for 27th after shooting a 75 on Monday, while sophomore Jimin Kang, junior Gaï¿½lle Truet and freshman Erin Tone are all tied for 44th with 77s in the first round. Junior Blair O'Neal is tied for 67th (80).
Individually, Arizona's Lorena Ochoa and Auburn's Courtney Swaim are tied for first after firing five-under 67s in the first round.
The tournament continues with another 18 holes on Monday night, while Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
