Lindsey Yamasaki To Miss Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament

Feb. 26, 2002

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford University senior Lindsey Yamasaki (Oregon City, OR/Oregon City HS) will miss this weekend's Pacific-10 Conference Women's Basketball Tournament after undergoing a laparoscopic appendectomy on Tuesday afternoon at Stanford Hospital. A laproscopic appendectomy is a removal of the appendix with a scope.

Yamasaki is expected to return to action when Stanford begins NCAA Tournament play on Friday, March 15 or Saturday, March 16.

'This is a challenge for our team,' VanDerveer said. 'It's nothing we can control. We just want to get Lindsey back to 100 percent.'

Yamasaki has started all 29 games this season for the second-ranked Cardinal and is averaging 17.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
