March 2, 2002

BERKELEY, Calif. - For the second night in a row, the Ducks faced top-15 caliber competition, and were handily defeated 7-0 at the California Tennis Center. The Bears, ranked 15th in the country, moved to 6-1 in dual matches following tonight's victory, while the Ducks dropped to 7-7.

Ester Bak and Janice Nyland gave the Cal duo of Christina Fusano and Jieun Jacobs a stiff challenge, forcing the No. 2 doubles match to a ninth game, but eventually lost 9-7.

In singles play, the Ducks most competent challenger was Courtne Nagle, who drove the Bears Nicole Havlicek to three sets, before losing 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
