Track And Field Competes At Washington Indoor Qualifier

The Stanford men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at the Washington Indoor Qualifier on Saturday, marking its last competition before the NCAA Championships next weekend. Kathleen Donoghue (pole vault) and Sara Bei (3,000) each won their respective events.
Donoghue posted a mark of 12-9 1/2 (3.90m) to capture first place in the pole vault. Bei toured the track in 9:26.19 to win the 3,000 meter run. Laura Turner (9:32.76) and Erin Sullivan (9:39.06) also placed third and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000 for the Cardinal.
Also on the women's side, Lindsey Johnson posted a season-best time of 8:42 in the 60-meter hurdles to place second.
Milton Little took second in the long jump with a mark of 22-9 1/4 (6.94m) and Mark Hassell ran a 1:52.14 in the 800-meter run, also taking second. Donald Sage recorded a time of 3:59.49 in the mile run and Steve Loughlin finished in 4:06.97 to place second and eighth, respectively.
Chris Emme ran a season-best time of 7:58.15 in the 3,000-meter run to place fourth. Jesse Thomas (8:03.86) and Ian Dobson (8:04.08) followed behind to place fifth and sixth. Stanford also claimed the men's 4x400-meter relay title. The team toured the track 3:13.24.
The final field for the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships will be announced Sunday afternoon. The meet will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 8th and 9th.
