No. 17 CS-Fullerton Tops No. 11 Softball 6-3 In Nine Innings

Oregon State's 11th-ranked softball team rallied from three runs down to tie No. 17 Cal State-Fullerton and force extra innings, but gave up a three-run homerun in the ninth to fall 6-3 on Sunday in the CSUF Worth Tournament.
After giving up a solo homerun in the first inning and two runs in the third, OSU brought in a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to tie it.
Junior Shelly Prochaska launched a solo homerun in the fourth to make it 3-1, then freshman Alana Mendoza singled in Clare Burnum from second to make it 3-2 in the fifth. Prochaska scored the tying run in the sixth on a Jessica King single.
OSU had a chance to put a run on the board in the ninth, when Kelly Petersen, who was placed on second in accordance with the international tiebreaker, was thrown out at home on a line-drive double play ball from Traci Feldt.
Mendoza and King led the Beavers with 2-for-3 days at the plate, while Monica Hoffman took the loss to fall to 5-2 on the year.
