Softball Commands 7-2 Win Over Colonels

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of Oregon softball team garnered their third win of the Red Desert Classic on Sunday, by out swinging the Eastern Kentucky Colonels,7-2 in the final day of the tournament.
Junior Andrea Vidlund helped spark Oregon's offensive attack by hitting three for three, hammering a two-run homer in the fourth that put the Ducks ahead by two. Junior Lakeesha Eversley also had two runs batted in and scored three times on the afternoon.
'We continue to be potent offensively,' said Oregon head coach Brent Rincon. 'I'm very pleased with the tournament. We competed well all weekend. We're looking forward to our next tournament, and we continue to improve as a ballclub.'
Freshman Lindsey Kontra pitched four and a third innings, giving up six hits and two runs, ringing up two strikeouts. Sophomore Anissa Meashintubby picked up the save with two and two-thirds innings pitched and five strikeouts.
Oregon moves to 11-7 for the season and will play in the UNLV Tournament on March, 8 2002 in Las Vegas.
