UW Women's Tennis Travels to Utah for Two Matches

The 12th-ranked Washington women's tennis embarks on a two-match road trip this weekend, traveling to the state of Utah.The Huskies meet Utah on Friday, Mar. 1 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time (1:30 p.m. Mountain Time) in the Eccles Sports Center. On Saturday, Mar. 2, Washington visits No. 52 Brigham Young. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. PST (noon MST) at the Smith Indoor Tennis Courts in Provo.

Washington has tied the best start in school history with a 9-1 record, matching the mark of the 1975 UW squad that finished the season at 11-1. The Huskies won their last five matches and have held their last three opponents without a point. UW has blanked four foes this season.

The Huskies are led by the nation's 60th-ranked singles player, sophomore Claire Carter who has an 11-6 record. Carter and junior Darija Klaic team up to form the No. 31 doubles duo.

Freshman Dea Sumanatri has proven to be a doubles dynamo since joining the team in January. The native of Jakarta, Indonesia has a perfect 10-0 doubles record. Nine of those doubles triumphs have come while playing on the Huskies' No. 2 doubles unit along with Colleen Gray.

Next week, the Huskies travel to Pullman, Wash. For a pair of matches. They meet 17th-ranked Fresno State on Mar. 8 and No. 27 Washington State on Mar. 9.

The Huskies are coming off there best season ever after advancing to the quarterfinals of NCAA Tournament and finishing with a No. 11 ranking.
