Curtis Borchardt Named Pac-10 Basketball Player of the Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford junior center Curtis Borchardt has beennamed the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week forFebruary 26 - March 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Borchardt, from Redmond, Wash., averaged 23.5 points , 13 rebounds and2.5 blocks in a Cardinal sweep at the Arizona schools.

Against Arizona, Borchardt tallied 28 points on 8-of-15 (.533) shootingfrom the field and 11-of-11 (1.000) shooting from the free throw line.He also notched nine rebounds in the winning effort at Tucson. In thevictory at Arizona State two days later, Borchardt scored 19 points whileshooting 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from the freethrow line. Additionally, he posted 17 rebounds in that contest.

For the week, Borchardt shot 14-of-24 (.583) from the field, 1-of-2(.500) from three-point range and 18-of-20 (.900) from the free throwline.

It is the first weekly award for Borchardt, the 30th all-time honor forthe Cardinal.
