Softball Player/Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ï¿½- Washington shortstop Jaime Clark has been namedPac-10 Player of the Week while UCLA's Amanda Freed was named Pitcher ofthe Week for February 29 - March 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announcedtoday.
Clark, from Tustin, Calif., hit .333 with six runs scored, five homeruns (a solo and a pair of two and three-run home runs), 11 RBI, two walks,20 total bases and a 1.333 slugging percentage in five games, leading theHuskies to a 4-1 record at the Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah.
With her second home run of the weekend, Clark became the Washingtonall-time career leader in home runs, passing former All-American JenCline (1993-96), who hit 43 in her four-year career. Clark currentlyhas a total of 47 career home runs in her third season at the UW.
For the year, Clark is batting .376 with 25 runs scored, 10 home runs,37 RBI, six doubles and 12 walks.
Freed, from Cypress, Calif., allowed just one earned run in 26 inningsin the circle last week, finishing with an 0.27 ERA to along with a 4-0record. Opponents hit just .114 against Freed, who allowed only 10 hitson the weekend, and had a strikeout-to-walk ratio of nearly 8:1 (31strikeouts, four walks).
Freed also helped herself offensively by hitting .308 for the week withfour doubles and two stolen bases.
Overall, Freed is 11-1 with an 0.48 ERA this season. She has struck out72 batters and given up just 36 hits in 73.2 innings of work.Additionally, opposing batters are hitting a mere .142 against her thisyear.
It is the third weekly honor for Clark and the 46th for Washingtonall-time. Freed earns the sixth award of her career. UCLA has nowreceived 62 honors all-time.
