Women's Rowing to Compete at Long Beach State

This Week- The UCLA women's rowing team will face the 49ers on March 9, at the Peter Archer Rowing Center in Long Beach, CA. The 49ers' women's rowing team, headed by Coach Steve Guentz, is currently a club program run through Long Beach State Recreation. For the Bruins, this is the first season sponsored as an Olympic sport by UCLA Athletics since the end of their 1991 Pac-10 Championship season. This meet is the first official event for Bruins' 2002 inaugural NCAA season. It is scheduled to begin at 7:00AM.
Last Week- On March 2, the Bruins held an exhibition against the 1991 Pac-10 Championship team as a feature for Parent/Alumni Day.
In the feature race, the Varsity 8 separated themselves from the alumni, featuring two-time Olympian, Catriona Fallon, to win by two seats of open water.
In a scrimmage between the JV and Novice eights, the Novice 'A' 8 took an early lead and isolated themselves at the 1000m mark to finish with the victory. The Novice 'B' 8 finished second, followed by the JV 8 in third.
