Sloan Selected West Region Men's Track Coach of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Rick Sloan, Washington State University track and field head coach, has been named the United States Track Coaches Association West Region Men's Coach of the Year.

Sloan is in his 29th season with the Cougar track program, eighth year as a head coach, seventh year as head coach for the combined men's and women's programs. This is the second consecutive year he has been named the men's coach of the year. Sloan was honored as the regional women's coach of the year for both 1999 and 2000.

'I was very surprised to win this award,' Sloan said. 'I didn't even vote for myself.'
