Softball Defeats Boston College, Wins Fifth Straight

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - For the second time in as many days, the University of Oregon softball team defeated Boston College at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada. Oregon defeated the Eagles 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to remain perfect at the tournament and win its fifth straight game to improve to 14-7 on the year.
'For us to gain momentum heading into Pac-10 play next weekend is key,' Oregon head coach Brent Rincon said. 'We feel like we've been putting together a nice streak of games and we just need to continue to work hard both offensively and defensively.'
Senior Connie McMurren improved to 4-3 this season, pitching all seven innings and allowing just one run on three hits. McMurren also struck out four batters and walked just two.
Offensively, Janell Bergstrom had her strongest outing of the season, finishing the game 2-for-2 with one run scored, while Lynsey Haij, Andrea Vidlund and Amber Hutchison accounted for Oregon's four other hits. Haij finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored and Hutchison scored the Ducks' third run.
Oregon finishes tournament action tomorrow, facing Notre Dame at 10 a.m.
