Oregon State Football Dates Set For 2002
March 11, 2002
CORVALLIS-Oregon State will open its 2002 football season with a pair of Thursday night games, it was announced Monday by Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart.
The Beavers will open the season with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest on Thursday, August 29 against Eastern Kentucky at Reser Stadium. OSU will then travel to Philadelphia to meet the Temple Owls on Thursday, Sept. 5. That game will be played at 4:00 p.m. PDT at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Franklin Field, which seats 52,593, is considered by the NCAA as the oldest stadium in the nation still operating for football games. The stadium originally opened in 1895 and was remodeled in 1922 and 1925.
Oregon State will return to Reser Stadium to complete its non-conference schedule with home games against UNLV (Sept. 14) and Fresno State on Sept. 21. Kickoff for the UNLV and Fresno State games is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., barring any changes for television.
The Beavers will also host UCLA (Oct. 5), California (Oct. 26), Arizona (Nov. 2) and Oregon on Nov. 23.
