Women's Soccer Performs Well at Corvallis Tournament
March 11, 2002
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The University of Oregon women's soccer team had a great weekend at the non-counting Oregon State Indoor Seven Aside.
The Ducks, who had two split-squads, had one team win the title over Oregon State and another advance to the quarterfinals. The rules were a little different, as seven players, instead of 11, would compete for each team in 25-minute matches on a smaller field.
'Both teams did an exceptional effort considering there were no subs,' Oregon coach Bill Steffen said. 'We saw several players take advantage of the opportunity to become leaders. It was a successful weekend regarding the outcome, but also in terms of player development.'
Oregon next will take on Washington State and Florida State April 6 at the Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
