Bruins Finish Second at Pioneer Classic

The UCLA women's golf team finished second at the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic Tuesday at Menifee Lakes Country Club.
The Bruins posted a final round team score of 305 and recorded a 54-hole total of 901, 37-over par. Pepperdine, sparked by a four-under par final round team score of 284, won its third straight Pioneer Classic crown with a three-round total of 876. New Mexico and Oklahoma tied for third at 908, followed by San Francisco at 911.
Individually for the UCLA Gold Team, freshman Charlotte Mayorkas tied for 10th place at 225. Freshman Yvonne Choe and sophomore Melissa Martin tied for 15th at 226. Junior Vivan Phosomran tied for 26th at 228 and sophomore Johanna Andersson tied for 41st at 232.
The UCLA Blue Team was led by sophomore Gina Umeck, who finished fourth at 221. Freshman Kristin Thompson tied for 10th at 225 and senior Alicia Um tied for 15th at 226. Sophomore Krystal Shearer tied for 44th at 233. Sophomore Saki Uechi posted a score of 77 in the final round.
Pepperdine's Katherine Hull won the individual title for the second straight year. She fired a final round score of 64, eight-under par, to break the course record and set a tournament record. Hull's round featured eight birdies and no bogeys and a back nine score of five-under par 31. Hull's 54-hole total of 207 was nine under par, another tournament record. Teammate Lindsey Wright placed second at 214, two-under par, after posting a final round score of 71.Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum finished third at 220, four-over par.
