IRVINE, Calif. - The Anteaters came from behind in the bottom of the tenth to defeat the Golden Bears of California, 5-4, Saturday at Anteater Ballpark.

The Golden Bears strung together four hits off of UCI reliever Jimmy Alstot, capped by a two-run single by first baseman Conor Jackson.

Anteater starter Brett Smith had an impressive performance in his sixth start, retiring the first 14 batters in order before Cal right fielder Brian Horwitz hit a double in the top of the fifth inning. Smith then struck out left fielder Noah Jackson to end the inning.

UCI threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning with the bases loaded, but Cal starting pitcher Brian Montalbo got third baseman Steve Guthrie to hit into a double play to end the inning.

The Golden Bears loaded the bases in their half of the seventh but Smith struck out center fielder Justin Nelson to end the threat.
