Chat With Women's Gymnastics Katy Herbert On Friday At 11:00 AM, PT
On Friday at 11:00 AM, PT, Stanford women's gymnast Katy Herbert stops to talk about the 10th-ranked Cardinal's chances at the upcoming 2002 Pac-10 Women's Gymnastics Championships, hosted by Stanford.
The Cardinal enter this weekend with a 9-3 overall mark and are 6-1 in Pac-10 competition. Stanford captured the 2001 Pac-10 championship last season in Seattle, recording a 197.850 overall team score to lead the field. This year's squad has been just as impressive, picking up wins over Arizona State, Arizona and Oregon State.
Herbert has been one of Stanford's most consistent performers in 2002. The First Team All-American selection (balance beam, 2000) has competed in every meet for the Card so far this season and is one of three seniors leading this exciting squad. She has either broken or matched career-highs in four of five categories this year, and has participated in the All-Around on five different occasions.
She notched a career-best 9.850 at Oregon State on Mar. 1 to lead the Cardinal to a 196.700-196.000 triumph. In addition, her 9.850 on bars against Arizona on Feb. 1 and 9.900 on balance beam against California on Mar. 8 are both new career highs. Last week against Seattle Pacific on Senior Night, Herbert achieved a 9.875 score on the floor exercise to finish second and captured the All-Around title with a 39.200- her highest total in that event all season.
The Chandler Heights, Ari., native is a two-time NCAA Regional champion on the balance beam, as well as a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic Team selection.
While Herbert will not be stopping by until 2 p.m. ET on Friday but feel free to submit your questions now and we will save them for her arrival.
