Kim Harada Records The 37th-Fastest Prelim Time In The 200 Free At The NCAA Meet
March 22, 2002
AUSTIN, Texas - In her second career swim at the NCAA championships, UW junior Kim Harada (San Lorenzo, Calif.) recorded the 37th-fastest time (1:49.42) in the preliminaries of the 200 freestyle Friday at the Jamial Texas Swimming Center. Harada's performance left her out of evening finals for the second straight day, after placing 21st in the prelims of the 50 free on Thursday.
Harada's 200 free time of 1:49.42 was well behind her school-record effort of 1:47.49, which she swam at the Pac-10 championships earlier this month. Arizona's Sarah Tolar won the morning's prelims at the NCAAs with a time of 1:45.97.
Harada will have one more chance to earn All-America status Saturday in the 100-yard freestyle, as she entered the meet with the 16th-fastest time of 49.63.
