Men's Golf In Third Place At Oregon Duck Invitational

Junction City, Ore. - The Stanford men's golf team is in third place at the 25th Annual Oregon Duck Invitational after the first day of play at the Shadow Hills Country Course on Monday afternoon. The Cardinal are four shots behind team leader Oregon (567) with a first day total of 571.

Senior Philip Rowe leads Stanford after firing a one-under par 71 and a two-under 70 for a total of 141 to tie for seventh place. Blake Mastalir (72-70) and Jim Seki (74-69) are one and two shots behind Rowe tied for ninth and 15th, respectively. George Downing carded a 145 (72-73) to tie for 23rd, followed by Kevin Blue (79-73) who is tied for 57th.

Pat Phillips is competing individually, recording a 75 and 71 to tie for 27th place.

UCLA's John Poucher (69-69) and Scott Gordon 67-71) of UC Davis are at the top of the individual leaderboard after firing a two round total of 138.

Stanford will continue play tomorrow in the Oregon Duck Invitational on the par 72, 6738-yard Shadow Hills Country Club.
