UCLA Slated To Compete At Arizona State In NCAA Regionals

The top-ranked UCLA Gymnastics team will travel to Tempe, Ariz. for the NCAA Regional on Saturday, Apr. 6. Joining the Bruins in the South Central Regional will be 12th-ranked Arizona, 17th-ranked BYU, host and 18th-ranked Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton and Illinois-Chicago. The meet will take place in Wells Fargo Arena at 6:00 pm Mountain Time.
The top two teams, as well as the top two all-around competitors not from an advancing team, from the regional will receive a berth in the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Apr. 18-20. In addition, individual event winners not from a qualifying team or all-arounder will advance. Also competing at the meet will be five at-large individual all-around competitors and four at-large individual event specialists.
UCLA will begin the regional meet on a bye before bars and will finish on the vault. Illinois-Chicago will begin on vault, BYU on bars, Arizona State on beam, Cal State Fullerton on a bye before floor and Arizona on floor.
Last season, the Bruins won the 2001 NCAA West Regional Championship in Pauley Pavilion and went on to win their second-straight NCAA Championship.

West Region (Corvallis, OR, host Oregon State) - No. 4 Utah, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 13 Oregon State, No. 24 Southern Utah, Washington, Boise State
North Central Region (Denver, Colo., host Denver) - No. 3 Georgia, No. 10 Stanford, No. 14 Denver, No. 23 Missouri, Utah State, Air Force
Central Region (Baton Rouge, La., host LSU) - No. 6 LSU, No. 7 Iowa State, No. 15 Florida, No. 25 Central Michigan, Illinois State, New Hampshire
Southeast Region (Morgantown, W. Va., host West Virginia) - No. 2 Alabama, No. 11 Minnesota, No. 19 West Virginia, No. 20 Kentucky, No. 21 Michigan State, No. 22 North Carolina
Northeast Region (University Park, Pa., host Penn State) - No. 5 Michigan, No. 8 Nebraska, No. 16 Iowa, Penn State, Pittsburgh, George Washington.
