Olivia Jackson Named Finalist For Sears Directors' Cup Postgraduate Scholarship

CLEVELAND, Ohio -Oregon State University senior Olivia Jackson was named one of 46 finalists for the ninth annual Sears Directors' Cup Postgraduate Scholarship Award, as was announced on Tuesday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Sixteen finalists are named from NCAA Division I schools and 10 finalists each from the NCAA Division II, Division III and the NAIA. After review by the Finalists Committees, four winners per division (16 total) will receive a $5,000 grant to be used toward postgraduate studies.
Members of the athletics support staff are eligible for these prestigious scholarships. Students were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, have senior status, have demonstrated leadership qualities on an institutional or community level and have played an active role in one of the support categories.
Jackson, a senior, maintains a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Human Development/Family Studies. She was a two-year letterwinner for the Beaver soccer program and has been working as an assistant for the Student Athlete Tutorial Program, in conjunction with OSU's Academic Services. Jackson has helped recruit, hire, train, coordinate and supervise qualified tutors and mentors for 500 student athletes in 14 different sports.
Scholarship winners will receive their awards at the NACDA's 37th Annual Convention, June 16-19 at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
