March 29, 2002
CORVALLIS, Ore.-The Arizona baseball team came up on the losing end of a 2-1 pitching duel against Oregon State in Pac-10 action on Friday. OSU's Tom Creighton lined Wes Zlotoff's first offering in the ninth inning over the right field wall for the game winning run, dropping Arizona to 21-11 overall and 2-3 in the Pac-10.
UA's Joe Little was impressive in his 10th start of the season for the Wildcats. The southpaw, who did not earn a decision, went seven strong innings, giving up just one run on only six hits. He struck out six and walked one.
Offensively, Brad Hassey led the way with a 2 for 4, one RBI day at the plate. His third inning single scored John Hardy from third to account for Arizona's lone run. Hardy paired doubles on the afternoon in four at bats.
The two teams will meet for the rubber game of the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. PST. Marc Kaiser, coming off back-to-back complete game performances, will take the mound for Arizona.
