Washington Wins Oregon Invitational by 21 Strokes

Eugene, OR - Washington sophomore Lindsay Morgan shot 217 to finish second overall to lead Washington to the team title at the Oregon Duck Invitational at Mallard Creek Golf Course. The Huskies finished 21 strokes ahead of second-place Idaho. Washington shot 882 while the Vandals carded a team score of 903.

Morgan was one of five Husky golfers to place in the top-10 at the tournament. Her 54-hole score bettered her previous career best by four strokes. Louise Friberg was tied for fourth at 221, Kelli Kamamura and Paige Mackenzie tied for seventh at 223 and Michelle Grafos tied for ninth at 224. Morgan's finish was the best of her collegiate career.

Washington State's Kim Welsh won medallist honors by shooting 2-under 70 during the final round to finish a even par 216.

Washinton's tournament victory was the first for the Huskies since winning the Bay Area Classic last year. The Huskies posted scores of 294 in the first round, 292 in the second round and 296 during Friday's final round. Washington's team score was just eight strokes off of its school record for a 54-hole tournament.

The Huskies' next tournament is April 5-7 at the ASU Invitational.
