Pullman, Wash.---The No. 37 Washington State women's tennis dominated local rival Gonzaga 7-0 at the Stadium Way Tennis Center Tuesday.
The Cougars won all three doubles matches and did not lose a set during the match.
Cougars Lorena Arias and Chris Martinez beat Jamie Buterbaugh and Firrah Williams 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Washington State freshmen Orsolya Sallai and Zsofia Fodor were victorious at No. 2 doubles, while Zorana Roganovic and Nora Gaal triumphed at No. 3 doubles.
'This was really good for our team,' said WSU Head Coach Cari Groce. 'We're starting to peak at the right time. We need to continue to play well and sharpen our game. We're playing at a high level right now.'
Stacy McKenna, a sophomore ranked 72nd, earned a victory when she defeated Buterbaugh 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
The win improved Washington State's record to 9-6. The match was the third-consecutive match the Cougars have played in Pullman.
