Cougar Tennis Comes Up Short Against Arizona State

Tempe, Ariz.---The No. 28 WSU women's tennis team lost to No. 11 conference rival Arizona State 6-1 Friday at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
Nora Gaal was the lone winner for the Cougars. Gaal defeated ASU's Lauren Colallio 5-7, 6-4, retire. Gaal, a freshman, has a record of 16-8 this season for Washington State. She has won three of her last four matches.
Arizona State opened the match by winning all three doubles matches and the doubles point. Erica Perkins and Stacy McKenna, the Cougar duo ranked 15th nationally, lost to Arizona State's No. 24 Adria Engel and Dora Krstulovic 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. WSU's Lorena Arias and Orsolya Sallai came up short against ASU's Mhairi Brown and Cindy Sureephong at No. 2 double, losing 8-4.
The win dropped Washington State's record to 9-7 and 1-3 in the Pac-10.
The Cougars return to action Saturday against No. 34 Arizona in Tucson.
