Ducks Struggle at Ping/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Oregon struggled to a 314 and was in 15th place after the first round of the Ping/ASU Invitational, played Friday at the 6,122-yard par 72 Karsten Golf Course.

Kathy Cho was Oregon's low golfer, shooting a first-round 76 that was tied for 45th. Freshman Johnna Nealy carded a 78 and sophomore Lacy Erickson had a 79.

No. 4 Texas, No. 23 New Mexico and Stanford shared the first round lead with a 292. No. 11 Arizona State and No. 14 USC were next at 293, while No. 20 California and No. 3 Tulsa shared sixth place at 294.

The three-round tournament continues with round two Saturday.
