Tempe, Ariz. - Follow the top-ranked Bruin gymnastics team as it competes at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships today at Arizona State's Wells Fargo Arena. The meet will begin at 6:00 pm Mountain Time. Scores will be updated at the end of each rotation.
UCLA posted a 49.475 on bars in its first rotation. Jamie Dantzscher led the Bruins with a 9.95. Doni Thompson scored 9.925, Onnie Willis recorded a 9.9, and Jeanette Antolin and Kristin Parker each scored a 9.85.
Arizona holds a two-event total of 97.225 (48.6 on floor, 48.625 on vault). Arizona State scored a 48.325 on beam. BYU posted a 48.125 on bars and 48.75 on beam for a two-event score of 96.875.
On balance beam in rotation three, Thompson led off with a 9.775, followed by a career-high tying 9.9 from Dantzscher. Malia Jones posted a 9.85 in the third position, and Willis and Tousek earned back-to-back 9.9s. Alyssa Beckerman anchored the set with a 9.925 for a team total of 49.475 and a two-event total of 98.95.
After two events, standings are as follows: 1. UCLA 98.95, 2. ASU 97.375, 3. Arizona 97.225, 4. BYU 96.875, 5. UIC 96.0, 6. Cal State Fullerton 95.75.
In rotation four, Arizona State widened the gap slightly against Arizona, 146.05-145.825. BYU trails both teams with a 145.5.
On floor in rotation five, Jones led off with a 9.825, and Parker nailed her set for a 9.85. In her first performance of the season on floor, Antolin recorded a 9.8. Tousek followed with a 9.825, and Willis earned a 9.9. Dantzscher finished things with a 9.95 to give UCLA a 49.35, the highest score of the evening on floor.
