Cougars Record Third Place Finish At Shocker Classic

WICHITA, Kan. - A trio of Washington State players - led by a fifth place effort from Jon Reehoorn - finished in the top-16 as the Cougar men's golf team posted a third place finish in the Shocker Classic at the par 71, 6,671 yard Crestview Country Club South Course, Tuesday.
The Cougars, ranked No. 18 by Golfstat and Golfweek, ended the tournament at 881 to finish in a tie with Stephen F. Austin. The Cougars have finished third or better in nine of the 11 tournaments they have competed in this season. WSU completed the event four shots back of second place Oklahoma City, which is ranked No. 2 by Golfstat in the NAIA rankings. Texas-San Antonio captured the team title with a 54-hole total of 859.
Reehoorn carded rounds of 71-70-73 to complete the 54-hole tournament at 214 (+1). Reehoorn's top-10 finish marked the 13th of his career as well as his 26th career top-25 effort, setting a school mark in both categories. Texas-San Antonio's Gibby Martens captured individual medalist honors by firing rounds of 68-66-69 to post a 10-under par total of 203.
Junior Dustin White finished in a tie for 12th with a score of 220 (+7). White, ranked No. 12 in the latest Golfstat Cup standings, has not finished out of the top-24 in any of the 11 tournaments he has participated in this season.
Not far behind was sophomore Isaac Woods, who posted his fifth straight top-25 effort of the spring by finishing in a tie for 16th at 222 (+9). Senior Jeremy Taylor finished in a tie for 27th while sophomore Ryan Camp ended the tournament in 61st.
The Cougars return to action, April 20-21, at the US Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif.
