Jurgensen Cards 71 In Final Round Of SJSU Western Intercollegiate

Oregon State junior Michael Jurgensen carded a solid 1-over-par 71 in the final round of the 17-team Western Intercollegiate on Friday, while the Beavers finished in 15th with a score of 899.
Jurgensen, from Horsholm, Denmark, carded OSU's low round of the tournament with his 71 en route to a total of 222 and a tie for 42nd overall at the challenging Pasatiempo Golf Course.
Fellow sophomore Daren Greig tallied a 221, with a consistent 74-73-74 to tie for 37th.
'Michael played well today,' OSU coach Brian Watts said. 'He fought hard, and that's what we need to do more of as a team is to be tougher and hang in there. Michael did that very well today, shooting 71.
'The good thing is we've got 2 ï¿½ weeks until Pac-10s to work hard and get prepared to compete at Pac-10s,' Watts said.OSU hosts the Pacific-10 Championships in Corvallis at Trysting Tree Golf Club, April 25-27.
The nation's 12th-ranked team, Washington, ran away with the team title by shooting 6-under 834 for a 20-stroke win over No. 10 Fresno State.
The Huskies also claimed a share of the top two positions on the individual leaderboard, as Conner Robbins topped teammate Brock MacKenzie and Kansas' Chris Marshall by six strokes with his 8-under 202. Isaac Weintraub, the leader for the first two rounds, carded a 78 Tuesday to finish tied for sixth.
