THIS WEEK

No. 1 UCLA, No. 10 STANFORD, No. 12 ARIZONA, and No. 13 OREGON STATE were selected to compete at the 2002 NCAA Championships. The meet will be held on Thursday, April 18 at the University of Alabama...Both UCLA and STANFORD were regional champions, scoring 197.425 and 196.125 respectively. ARIZONA (194.950) and OREGON STATE (196.800) were runner-ups...ARIZONA is making its first NCAA appearance since 1996 and will compete in the first round of competition. Two-time defending NCAA champion UCLA, STANFORD, and OREGON STATE are making consecutive appearances at the championships. They will join meet host, Alabama, in the second session of competition...Individually, ARIZONA head coach Bill Ryden was named 2002 South Central Regional Coach of the Year and SR Randi Liljenquist was named Gymnast of the Year for that region. Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year, UCLA SO Jamie Dantzscher received the same billing in the West region.
