The California men's and women's track and field teams turned in numerous career-best performances under warm conditions at the fifth-annual Brutus Hamilton Memorial Invitational Saturday at Edwards Stadium.

The meet was non-scored as it was opened up for unattached athletes. Overall, Cal won 9 events (four women's, five men's). On the women's side, three of the first-place finishes came in career-best fashion -- junior Leora Ward in the pole vault (12-11.5) and senior Marielle Schlueter in the 3000m (9:49.53). Schlueter took almost 13 seconds off her previous PR in the 3000m (10:02.06).Freshman Abby Parker won her first ever 3000mSC race in 10:59.31, a Cal freshman record.

Cal redshirt freshman David Glasgow claimed top honors in the high jump with a PR clearance of 6-10.75. Junior Ahmad Wright also won the 400mH with a PR of 51.52, the third-fastest time in the Pac-10 this year. Senior Jerriod Mack returned from a hamstring injury to win the triple jump (50-2.5).

The Bears also won both 4x400m Relays with the women posting a season-best time of 3:45.09.

It was a good day for Cal javelin throwers, as Joe Berro (206-3) and Missy Vanek (141-3) each finished second with career-best marks. Berro's mark ranks third on the Cal all-time list, and Vanek's is seventh.

Cal sends a split squad to the Mount SAC Relays, April 19-21, in Walnut and to the Woody Wilson Invitational in Davis, April 20.
