Men's Golf Places 13th At ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational

Tempe, Ariz. - The Stanford men's golf team shot its best round of the tournament today at the 30th annual ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational with a 285. The Cardinal placed 13th with a three round total of 866, two-over par. Texas (832), Arizona State (838) and Pepperdine (839) took the top-three team places.

Stanford was led by Jim Seki who fired a two-under par 68 in the final round to tie for seventh place with a total of 208. Philip Rowe carded a low round of four-under 66 to finish with a 212 and tie for 25th. Blake Mastalir (223) and Pat Phillips (224) finished tied for 72nd and 77th, respectively. George Downing finished with a 228 to place 84th.

Ron Won competed individually and shot a one-over 71 to place tied for 47th with a three round total of 217.

TCU's Bret Guetz took top individual honors with a tournament low 200, followed by John Klauk of Texas with a three round total of 203.

The Cardinal will next host the US Intercollegiate on Saturday (April 20) and Sunday (April 21) on the Stanford Golf Course.
