No. 1 Softball Team Beats Oregon, 2-0

April 13, 2002

After a two hour rain delay, Arizona softball downs Oregon, 2-0, at Howe Field. The Cats hand Oregon their eighth loss in the Pac-10.

Junior power hitter Lovie Jung led the way for the Cats. Jung hit her 13th home run of the season to give the Cats a 1-0 lead. Arizona's next run came in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Carrie Hagen reached base off of a bunt and advanced when freshman Crystal Farley was tagged out at first base. Jung singled to left field to score Hagen.

Pitcher Jennie Finch struck out 12 batters and only allowed one hit to improve her season record to 22-1. This game marked her 14th shut out of the season. Arizona improves to 37-5 and 6-1 in the Pac-10. Oregon falls to 18-17.

Arizona faces Oregon on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
