Women's Soccer Beats Mexico 2-0

Watsonville, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team opened its spring season with a 2-0 win over the Mexican National Team on Sunday evening at Watsonville High School. Brittany Oliveira (Los Angeles, CA) and Marcia Wallis (Los Gatos, CA) netted goals for the Cardinal.

Stanford needed only nine minutes into the first half to get on the scoreboard. Oliveira put the Cardinal up 1-0 when Becky Myers (St. Charles, IL) flicked the ball on from Alisan Pabon's (Dallas, TX) throw in.

The Cardinal struck again midway through the second half when Wallis connected on a header off a cross from Oliveira.

Stanford's next spring match is against USC on Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. on Maloney Field.
