Bruin Men's T & F Competes at UC San Diego Invitational This Weekend (April 27-28)

Art Venegas' UCLA men's track & field squad this weekend (April27-28) will travel to San Diego to compete in the UC San DiegoInvitational. It will be the Bruins' final competition before the UCLA/USCannual dual meet, held Saturday, May 4 at UCLA's Drake Stadium.
Last Weekend at Mt. SAC Relays
Last weekend (April 20-21), selected members of the Bruin men's track& field team competed at the Mt. SAC Relays, held in Walnut.
Bruin Men at Mt. SAC
Junior Kyle Erickson, senior C. J. Bell and sophomore Charles Ryanpaced the UCLA men at Mt. SAC.Erickson, from Elmhurst, IL (York HS), in Sunday?s Invitational 400mhurdles, placed third in a personal-best time of 49.68 (NCAA automatic, No.4 in UCLA history). Erickson also ran the anchor (45.4) on the UCLA 4 X400m relay that placed sixth (3:07.25, season-best, NCAA provisional) inSunday?s Invitational. Erickson is UCLA's nominee for the Pac-10 Men'sTrack Athlete of the Week honor.
Bell, from Redlands HS, in Saturday's pole vault, took second, in apersonal-best 17-4 1/2 (NCAA provisional). He's the Bruin nominee forPac-10 Men?s Field Athlete of the Week.
Ryan, from Richmond (McClymonds HS), in Sunday?s Invitational 110mhurdles, was fourth (13.79, personal-legal best, NCAA provisional, No. 7 inschool history).
Also performing well at Mt. SAC for the Bruin men were freshman BenAragon, placing third (3:51.11) in Saturday?s University 1500m, sophomoreJuaune Armon, fourth (24-10w) in Sunday?s Invitational long jump, seniorMichael Lipscomb, won his University Open heat on Sunday, in a season-besttime of 20.89, senior Scott Moser, who placed seventh (196-6) in Sunday'sInvitational discus, freshman Nick Thornton, who won (1:51.70) his 800mheat on Saturday and freshman Jonathan Williams, placing fifth (14.64) onSunday in his 110m hurdle heat.
Long Beach Invitational
Selected members of the Bruin men's track & field squad also competedSaturday (April 20) at the Long Beach State Invitational.
The UCLA men were led by ? junior John McCauley, winning his 100m(10.67w, +4.76) and 200m (21.75, season-best) heats, junior Brandon Foster,placing second in his 100m (10.96, season-best) and 200m (21.96,season-best) heats and freshman Tony Golston, winning his 400m heat(50.69).
