James Allen Selected in the NFL Draft

Corvallis, Ore. - Former Oregon State University linebacker James Allen was selected in the third round (82nd overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 2002 NFL Draft.

Allen was a four-year letterman at OSU, starting three seasons. The 6-3, 240-pound Jefferson High School graduate concluded his career with 197 tackles, seven quarterback sacks, two interceptions, and a total of 20 tackles-for-loss. He also was selected to the 2001 Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention team.

Allen is the fifth Beaver selected in the draft over the last two years. He will join his former OSU coach, Mike Riley, who is the Saints' secondary coach. Former OSU offensive lineman Mitch White is also a member of New Orleans' roster.
