Track & Field Athletes of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pacific-10 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 15-21:
MEN'S TRACK - Anson Henry, WASHINGTON STATE. Henry won the 100m at Mt. SAC with a school record, and NCAA provisional qualifying clocking of 10.17. It's the top legal time in the Conference this season. He also ran an NCAA provisional qualifying 20.85 in the 200m. Henry is a senior from Pickering, Ontario.
MEN'S FIELD - Julien Kapek, USC. Kapek upped his own school record to a nation-leading leap of 55-8 1/2 (16.98) to finish third in the invitational triple jump at Mt. SAC. His mark is more than five feet beyond his nearest Pac-10 competitor this season. Kapek is a junior from Houilles, France.
WOMEN'S TRACK - Lauren Fleshman, STANFORD. Fleshman ran the fastest 5,000 meter time by a collegiate runner this season, bettering her career-best time by more than 14 seconds with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 15:35.59. The time ranks second all-time in Pac-10 history. Fleshman is a junior from Canyon Country, Calif.
WOMEN'S FIELD - Jennifer Joyce, CALIFORNIA. Joyce shattered her own two-year old school record in the hammer throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 212-7 to finish fourth, second among collegians, at Mt. SAC. The mark is a Canadian record and the No. 2 mark all-time in Pac-10 history. Joyce is a senior from Vancouver, B.C.
