Ducks Finish 10th at Pac-10 Championships

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Oregon shot a 318 and dropped a spot to tenth during the final round of the 2002 Pacific-10 Championships, played Wednesday at the 6,199-yard, par 72 Walla Walla Country Club.
Senior Kathy Cho was the Ducks' low golfer, shooting a 4-over 76 Wednesday to finish tied for 17th at 230. Cho was the only Duck to finish in the top 40.
No. 7 Arizona defended its title by shooting an 891 to hold off No. 20 UCLA by eight strokes. No. 10 Arizona State and No. 17 California tied for third at 908. No. 14 USC and No. 16 Washington were fifth at 909, followed by Stanford (913), Washington State (938), Oregon State (958) and Oregon (966).
The biggest upset came in the individual medalist chase, where ASU's Jimin Kang outplayed defending champion Lorena Ochoa of Arizona by a stroke to end Ochoa's consecutive wins streak at seven tournaments. Kang entered the day tied for fourth, one stroke back of Ochoa, but shot a final round 2-under 70 to finish at even par 216 and pass Ochoa and two other golfers to win her first Pac-10 title. Ochoa had an even par 72 Wednesday and finished second at 217.
