Women's Golf Ties For Fifth At Pac-10 Championships

Walla Walla, Wash. - Junior Mikaela Parmlid shot a final-round 73 on Wednesday to help lead the No. 12 USC women's golf team to a fifth-place tie at the 2002 Pac-10 Championships held at Walla Walla Country Club on April 22-24.
Parmlid fired a three-round total of 218 (71-74-73, +2) to finish third individually, just two strokes behind Pac-10 individual champion Jimin Kang of Arizona State (216) and one stroke behind Lorena Ochoa of Arizona (217) in second. Yvonne Choe of UCLA and Laura Myerscough of Arizona tied for fourth (219).
The Women of Troy and Washington shot 909 over 54 holes to finish 18 strokes behind team champion Arizona (891). UCLA was second (899), while Arizona State and California tied for third (908).
Also for USC, junior Yon Yim had her finest showing of the season, shooting 228 to finish 15th. Junior Becky Lucidi tied for 19th (231), while senior Leila Chartrand tied for 26th (234) and sophomore Anna Rawson tied for 34th (236).
Following the tournament, the All-Pac-10 teams were announced, with both Parmlid and Lucidi named to the first team. Rawson was an honorable mention selection.
The Women of Troy are next in action at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Stanford, Calif., on May 9-11.
