Calvin Carlyle Granted Additional Year

April 26, 2002

CORVALLIS- Oregon State's Calvin Carlyle, a senior safety, has been granted an additional year of eligibility as his hardship petition was officially approved by the Pacific-10 Conference.

Carlyle played only in the first two games of the 2001 season (Fresno State and New Mexico State) before suffering a season ending left shoulder injury. He had left anterior shoulder reconstruction surgery and is still going through rehab on his shoulder.

Carlyle, a three-year letter winner, has not participated in spring drills. He has played in 35 of 37 possible games prior to his injury last season. Carlyle has started 25 games for the Beavers at either free safety or strong safety.

Calvin also had surgery on the left shoulder to correct a subluxation problem in January 2000 and did not participate in spring drills in 2000.

Calvin is expected to be at full strength when OSU opens fall camp in August.
